The Diversity Awareness Office (soon to be renamed Diversity and Inclusion Student Commons – or DISC) has remodeled our existing office space in SUB 368. In an effort to visually represent a space that is inclusive of all identities, visible and invisible, we are beginning a photo project to highlight the diversity of MSU’s student body. The goal is to display photographs of students with intersecting identities who are passionate about, work towards, or supporting of advancing social justice. Identities we would like to represent include but are certainly not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, veteran status, religion, socioeconomic status, age, and ability status.
If you are a student interested in being in one of these photos, please fill out this brief form.
Welcome to the Diversity Awareness Office
The mission of the MSU Diversity Awareness Office (DAO) is to increase understanding, promote inclusion, and inspire critical thinking about diversity, as well as to provide support for those who identify with a wide range of diverse identity groups.
The DAO provides information, support, and practical resources to the university community in the areas of multicultural awareness, community building, and education. Diversity and inclusion are examined through programs, lectures, movies, celebrations, discussion groups and social events. The DAO provides a supportive environment where students can begin to understand the diversity they experience on campus and across the larger global community.
